If you sell with Square in the US, you can turn on Bitcoin payments in your Square Dashboard or point-of-sale app. At checkout you choose Bitcoin, a QR code appears, and the customer pays from a Lightning wallet in seconds.
Go deeperSquare opened bitcoin payments to US sellers in November 2025. There's no processing fee through 2026, then a flat 1%, compared with roughly 2.5% to 3.5% for card payments. Payments use the Lightning Network and are limited to $600 each. You choose whether sales arrive as bitcoin or as dollars, and you can withdraw bitcoin to your own wallet. You'll complete a short business verification first, and it isn't offered to businesses based in New York. Bitcoin payments are final: there are no chargebacks, and Square issues refunds as gift cards. A separate feature, Bitcoin Conversions, can turn part of your daily card sales into bitcoin for a 1% fee. When you sell bitcoin, Square may send you a Form 1099-DA, so keep records and check with a tax pro.
