Is Bitcoin different from "crypto"?

Many Bitcoiners say yes. Bitcoin has no founder in charge, no company behind it, and a supply cap that's extremely hard to change. Most other coins have a team or foundation that can steer them.

Thousands of other coins exist. Many were created by a company, handed early coins to insiders, or can change their supply rules. Supporters of other projects argue they add features Bitcoin lacks. Bitcoiners argue Bitcoin's simplicity and decentralization are the features.
